The message transfer of the electronic customs procedure CHIEF is down/unavailable and you need access to the fallback procedure to process messages for already created export declarations or to create new ones?
Proceed as follows to handle export declarations in fallback procedure:
Select the appropriate fallback procedure
For Export Filing: CHIEF, the manual fallback procedure provided by UK Customs for the CHIEF declaration procedure is available in the application by default. This is suitable if you have few transactions.
For customers with a large number of transactions, the UK Customs manual fallback procedure is not suitable in practice. Therefore, use the individual fallback procedure agreed in advance between your company and UK Customs for this purpose. For this purpose, contact the key user responsible in your company.
Handling/Processing export declarations in fallback procedure (CHIEF) that have not yet been sent
If UK Customs is not reachable and you have not yet created or sent an export declaration, consider waiting until the fallback procedure has been revoked by customs if your export declaration does not need to be processed urgently.
If you have not yet sent your export declaration but would like to do so, you can activate the fallback procedure in the export declaration.
Handling/Processing export declarations in fallback procedure (CHIEF) that have already been sent
If you have already sent out your export declaration before the connection to the e-customs system was interrupted, copy the earlier export declaration for the fallback procedure. Print out a paper copy of the fallback document in the copied export declaration.
Finally, cancel the original export declaration.
How to see all export declarations in fallback procedure at a glance
Proceed as follows:
- Navigate to the overview of the export declarations.
- Expand the filter criteria and as variant select Fallback procedure.
- Change the time of the declaration date, if necessary.
- Click the Search button.
- The filtered overview now displays the export declarations with the Fallback procedure variant.
