In addition to validating the data entered in each field of a declaration, CHIEF will also perform front end credibility (FEC) checks. These FEC checks will identify any data inconsistencies declared between different fields of the declaration, such as quantity to value, and CHIEF will require confirmation that the information is correct before it will accept the declaration.
Error E00159 is usually shown with an accompanying error to indicate which field requires checking and confirmation.
If CHIEF queries the data, you must either amend it, if it is incorrect, or confirm the data entered.
Next to certain fields, a tick, or a green circle with a tick, is displayed to show the confirmation code status.
If a tick is shown, the confirmation is not set, and clicking on the icon will change the setting to confirmed.
If a green circle with a tick is shown, the confirmation code is set, and clicking on the icon will change the setting to unconfirmed.
If a FEC error is received, check the value queried by HMRC, and if the values are correct, tick the option to confirm the data.
Only confirm the data that has been queried by HMRC. If data is confirmed that has not been queried by HMRC, an error may be returned that the confirmation is invalid as no failure, for that field, was reported.
