In this article, you'll learn what changes will take effect with the new interface starting January 1, 2027, how to activate the new API in your test environment, and which processing steps you should review before migration. Use these guidelines as a checklist to test your processes well in advance of the shutdown of the current API at the end of 2026.
The new API and the previous API can be used in parallel until the end of 2026. After that, the current interface will be deactivated.
How do I activate the new API?
- Prerequisite: You have the role I_CLIENTADMIN.
Activate the new API in your test environment using the following setting:
User administration > Clients > Client settings > IMPOST and customs declaration API > New API
Key testing areas
This overview shows where in Import Filing: ATLAS you should test the new interface:
- Activating the new API: Check to see if processing is still carried out correctly after activation.
- Defining conditions in transitions: After activating the new API, you will have access to new functions in Master data – Transitions. In the Aggregation field group, define the criteria for aggregating declarations.
- Transitioning customs and IMPOST declarations: Verify that all declaration types are adopted and processed correctly.
- Aggregation of deliveries: Make sure that deliveries with identical header data are combined into a single declaration for customs and IMPOST filings.
- Package logic: Check to see if all packages are adopted, assigned, and processed correctly.
- Cost allocation: Verify that costs are allocated to the declarations or line items as expected.
- Invoices and documents: Verify that invoices and related documents are processed completely and accurately.
- History entries and error messages: Check to see if the processing steps and potential errors are clearly and completely documented.
- Additional transition actions: Check to see if new or modified transition functions are running as expected.
Overview of functional updates
Aggregation of declarations
- Multiple deliveries with the same header data can be combined into a single customs or IMPOST declaration. This reduces the number of declarations and simplifies the process.
You define the conditions for aggregating deliveries under Master data – Transitions in Import Filing: ATLAS. - Please note: Items within declarations are not aggregated.
Further optimizations
- The processing of invoices and invoice documentation has been revised.
- History entries and transition actions have been improved. The packing logic and cost allocation have also been optimized.
