You can create and edit import declarations and send them to the relevant customs authorities.
Proceed as follows:
- Go to Customs, click on the country concerned, then click Import declarations (XX), where XX stands for the country code.
- Open an existing import declaration with the status of New or Ready to declare. To create a new import declaration, click New.
- Follow the prompts of the Assistant and enter the necessary data. Complete the required fields and any items or optional data you wish to add on the Customs details sheet.
- To indicate transport and insurance costs: Refer to Specifying transport and insurance costs.
- The Assistant alerts you once you have entered all the required data. Click the alert to send the import declaration.
- The status of the import declaration changes to Sent.
- The customs authorities will respond with one or more customs messages, depending on the e-customs system.
The next steps vary depending on the declaration type:
- If you have submitted an arrived full declaration (type "A")
- When the authorities accept your declaration, the status changes to Accepted.
- When you receive the final assessment of duties and taxes, the status of the import declaration changes to Final Tax Notice, see View assessment of import duties & taxes.
- When the declaration is cleared and the goods are released, the status changes to Completed.
- If you have submitted a pre-lodged full declaration (type "D")
- When the declaration has been registered, the status changes to Registered (not arrived).
- The arrival notification will be triggered automatically by GVMS or the CSP. If the automatic arrival fails, you can manually send the arrival notification using the Send arrival notification link in the assistant pane.
