Creating a tax warehouse

The following information gives guidance if you are a tax warehouse keeper and have a tax warehouse at your premises from which goods are to be dispatched directly to customers. 

• To ensure that customs messages can be transmitted to the AEB application, you must first submit an IT service provider application to the General Customs Directorate. AEB can provide you with a template for this. Please contact AEB Support for assistance. These applications must then be updated with the new excise duty number.

Note: The company roles of 'tax warehouse (consignor/consignee)' and 'tax warehouse keeper' can only be held by the same company if the address of the tax warehouse is the same as that of the tax warehouse keeper and the tax warehouse keeper operates only one tax warehouse. If this is the case, follow the instructions under the heading ‘Tax warehouse keeper with one tax warehouse’. 

If, as a tax warehouse keeper, you have opened an additional tax warehouse, please follow the instructions under the heading ‘Tax warehouse keeper with multiple tax warehouses’. 

Tax warehouse keeper with one tax warehouse

1. Go to Master data > Companies and create a new company using the New button.
   
2. From the Company roles tab, assign the roles ‘Tax warehouse (consignor/consignee)’ and ‘Tax warehouse keeper’ to the newly created company.
3. Go to the EMCS tab and enter the excise duty numbers for the tax warehouse keeper and the tax warehouse. The tax warehouse keeper’s excise duty number is entered in the Excise no. field, and the tax warehouse’s excise duty number is entered in the Excise Duty no. tax wareh. field.
   

You can also check your company's role in the SEED database using your excise duty number.

Tax warehouse keeper with multiple tax warehouses

For each tax warehouse, you must create a separate company with the company role ‘Tax warehouse (consignor/consignee)’ and enter the tax warehouse’s excise duty number. When the tax warehouses have been created, you can then assign them to the tax warehouse keeper.

To assign a tax warehouse to a tax warehouse keeper company, go to Master data > Companies and open the tax warehouse keeper’s company. Switch to the EMCS tab, and in the Tax warehouse section, click the Add button and select the new tax warehouse(s).
