As of January 1, 2025, new requirements for parcel shipping to Germany will apply according to the German Postal Act: Parcels over 10 kg up to 20 kg and over 20 kg must be labeled with a visible indication (e.g. pictogram) of the weight.
When will the new requirements for the shipping label be implemented in Carrier Connect?
As quickly as possible. As soon as AEB receives the updated shipping label specifications from the respective transport service provider, the new layout will be implemented as quickly as possible – provided the label template is designed by AEB.
If the “finished” label is sent directly via web service from the transport service provider to Carrier Connect, AEB has no influence on the time of implementation. The adjustment is made by the transport service providers in their backend systems.
Stay up-to-date via the Carrier Connect Release Notes
We will inform you via the Carrier Connect Release Notes when the shipping labels of which transport service provider have been adjusted, approved, and rolled out by AEB.
- Subscribe to the Help Center article Carrier Connect and Carrier Event Service – Release planning so you don't miss any updates.
Have you stored “dummy weights” in your shipping orders until now?
For example, if you always submit the package weight “1 kg” to Carrier Connect, then
- in future, you will have to submit the actual package weight to Carrier Connect or
- ensure labeling in another way, e.g. by means of an additional label.
- Contact your transport service providers to clarify how they will deal with the labeling requirement in these cases.
Do you print customized shipping labels?
Recommendation: If you use customized shipping labels, simply use the Carrier Connect “standard labels” again in future.
- You can find out how to add documents to Carrier Connect in the User Guide.
If this is not possible, the necessary adjustments to your customized shipping labels must be made by AEB for a fee.
- Submit a request to AEB so that we can provide you with a quote.
Do you use client-specific transport service providers?
You are responsible for checking the labeling requirements on the shipping labels used.
- Submit a request to AEB so that we can discuss how to proceed.
