Dual-use goods include goods, software, and technology (also documents and diagrams) that can be used for both civilian and military purposes. Dual-use goods do not necessarily have to have an immediate explosive use. If they could be used for the production or development of military or nuclear goods in any way, they are also defined as dual-use goods.
If you wish to export dual-use goods from the UK to another country, you need to obtain an export licence. As from January 1, 2021, the overall framework of controls for the export of dual-use goods will not change. However, some licensing requirements will change, mainly in relation to exports to the EU. If you export dual-use goods to the EU, you will then need a new UK export licence.
