The Incoterm DPU stands for ‘Delivered At Place Unloaded’. It applies to all modes of transport and belongs to the so-called arrival clauses (Group D).
Under this Incoterm, the seller is responsible for unloading the goods from the arriving means of transport and making them available to the buyer at the named destination (which may also be the port). The seller bears all costs and risks of transport to the destination, including unloading. The seller must clear the goods for export, however, they are not obliged to clear the goods for import.
- DPU is suitable for deliveries to a destination terminal (port, airport, etc.) as well as to other locations (e.g. construction sites, receiving warehouses) if either the unloading process is included in the freight price or the seller has a particular interest in supervising/carrying out the unloading.
- Remember that when calculating the statistical value, all transport costs after leaving the EU external border must be deducted from the value of the goods.
