You must first connect your printers before you can print shipping documents such as labels and loading lists.
- AEB tested and approved many common printer models for you so that you can easily set them up in Carrier Connect. Check the Carrier Connect system requirements (AEB Cloud) for a list of these printers.
- If you don’t see your printer model in the list, submit a request in the AEB Help Center. Report the printer model and resolution (dpi) so that we can run a feasibility test and provide you with a non-binding quote.
Connecting and configuring printers for printouts on thermal or laser printers
Proceed as follows:
- From the Office, go to Master data – Printers, then click New.
- If you have not yet installed the AEB Service Agent, you’ll be prompted to do so. Learn more here.
- Select a unique Short name and Description.
- Keep the Client-depend. box checked. This defines the printer as available only for the currently active client.
- Under Usage, select the Workstation/network printer radio button.
- Select the printer of your choice from the Printer name drop-down list. The list includes the printers installed locally on your workstation or on the server, depending on your settings. For network printers centrally managed through the server, enter the path. Example: \\printserver\aeb\.
- Leave the Printer name field empty if the printer resolution is defined in the host system or if you wish to use the default printer defined in the printer settings.
- In the Printer type field, select the printer type that matches your printer model.
- If you don’t see your printer model in the list, submit a request in the AEB Help Center. Report the printer model and resolution (dpi) so that we can run a feasibility test and provide you with a non-binding quote.
- If you need different printer settings to prepare labels – because you generate labels using thermal transfer printing or the print head requires different heat or speed parameters, for example – you can save the settings directly to your printer. Otherwise, you can upload the settings to the master data of the printer by going to Printer data – Native printer settings and clicking on Edit. Before you do this, make sure that the approved version of the printer model’s Nicelabel driver is installed on the client from which you upload the settings.
- Click Save & close to save your changes.
- Repeat these steps to connect more printers.
