Additional Information (AI) code requirements are mainly driven by the declaration category, procedure code and additional procedure code. AI codes can either be union codes (starting with a number) or national codes (starting with a letter).
- Further information can be found via this HMRC website: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/additional-information-ai-statement-codes-for-data-element-22-of-the-customs-declaration-service-cds
Additional information consists of a code, and in certain circumstances, free text.
An example of header level AI which is required for CDS Exports, is RRS01. This is required for all GVMS movements.
Completion of the text field is mandatory in CDS. This is a free text field and should completed with the Haulier Name or EORI. To enter this information, go to the Customs details tab and locate the Additional information section.
An example of item level AI is TRANS.
This AI code should be used when goods have been given ‘Permission to Progress’ but the goods must remain under Customs control under one of the transit procedures, they must subsequently be declared to the NCTS system. TRANS is required as the AI type and the Customs Office List (COL) code of the supervising office is required in the text field.
To enter AI at item level, open the item and the Additional information section is on the Details tab.
CDS may mandate further AI data depending on the declaration and data being submitted.
