Additional Information (AI) codes are mainly driven by the declaration category, procedure code and additional procedure code. AI codes can either be union codes, which always start with a number, or national codes which always start with a letter.
AI where required consists of a code and, in certain circumstances, free text information.
An example of a header level AI that is required for CDS Exports would be RRS01 which is required for all GVMS movements.
This is the same as the current requirement for CHIEF however, completion of the text field is mandatory in CDS. This is a free text field and should completed with the Haulier Name or EORI:
A further example is TRANS – this is required at item level.
This AI code should be used when goods have been given ‘Permission to Progress’ but the goods must remain under Customs control under one of the transit procedures, they must subsequently be declared to the NCTS system. TRANS is required at the AI type and the Customs Office List (COL) of the supervising office is required in the text field.
CDS may mandate further AI’s depending on the declaration and data being submitted.
