You can send explanations for shortage/excess (customs message C_SHR_EXP) to customs, which validates it and confirms with a message of the same type. You can send this type of message only if a shortage/excess was reported in the consignee’s report of receipt. It is possible to send more than one explanation for shortage/excess per submission, as the C_SHR_EXP customs message always refers to the report of receipt.
Proceed as follows:
- The EMCS Desktop shows you under “Events” that there are EMCS movements for which explanations for shortage/excess can be provided. These EMCS movements are also assigned the status of Shortage/excess in the EMCS movements (submission) overview.
- Click the Desktop link to open one such EMCS movement.
- If you DO NOT wish to enter any explanations for shortage/excess: Click the Explanations for shortage/excess possible link in the Assistant pane. Click the Do not send any explanations button in the message window.
- If you DO wish to enter explanations for shortage/excess: Click the Explanations for shortage/excess possible link in the Assistant pane. Click the Enter explanations button in the message window.
- This opens the Expl. on short./exc. window. EMCS items for which an explanation is possible can be found under Items with shortage/excess.
- Enter the explanations for shortage/excess. Follow the instructions of the Assistant.
- Click the Send explanations button.
- The EMCS movement is assigned the status of Complete and removed from the list of events on your Desktop.
- Assistant messages about possible shortage/excess can be disabled, in which case the EMCS movements are assigned the status of Complete right away.
