NFFTAX: This is where your customs officer justifies the non-final assessment of your import duties
Import duties on your individual customs declaration (EZA) or your supplementary customs declaration (EGZ) may be assessed on a non-final basis. Customs will notify you of this via the ATLAS CUSTAX message. In addition, the NFFTAX message will inform you of the reasons for the non-final assessment of your import duties.

Tax assessment for EZA
Import Filing: ATLAS will notify you of the receipt of a NFFTAX customs message the next time you open the associated declaration. The assistant will prompt you to confirm receipt of the non-final assessment of import duties.
After opening the declaration, from the Duties/taxes menu, select Open assessment of duties and taxes. Go to the Items tab and open an item. From the NFFTAX details tab you can then open and view the non-final assessment of import duties.
If necessary, please contact your customs office to clarify any outstanding issues.
- In the Customs declarations overview, you can also customize the column definition to display the New NFFTAX column (under the Customs declaration section in the Columns available list). This allows you to quickly see which transaction has received a new NFFTAX message.
Tax assessment for EGZ
You will receive the import duty notice (customs message CUSTAX) in response to a final EGZ notification. This is usually final, meaning that customs clearance of the EGZ is complete. Once the tax assessment has been received, your EGZ will change to the status of "Final assessment."
If corrections are still required, you will first receive a non-final assessment of import duties (one or more NFFTAX messages) as described for individual customs declarations. The EGZ will then initially retain its "Checked in" status.
Once you have clarified the outstanding issues through change notifications or by telephone, you will receive the final notification.
- In the overview of supplementary customs declarations, you can search for "NFFTAX received" in the Incident type filter.
To view and print tax assessments for the EGZ:
