An early customs declaration allows you to declare goods to the relevant customs office in advance, before the goods are presented. This means that customs receives information about the goods before they arrive. This allows the customs office to request further information and documents, if necessary, in advance. Upon confirmation of the early customs declaration, you will receive a registration number from customs. The provisional registration number begins with ‘ATA’ and changes after confirmation.
If you wish to create an early customs declaration, tick the Early checkbox in the Basic data section of your customs declaration.
For individual customs declarations or simplified customs declarations, you must confirm early declarations using a CUSCON message; for IMPOST declarations, you must use a COMCON message. The assistant will guide you through the options.
The message displayed above allows you to provide information about previous documents and discharge shares. However, there are different procedures in which the customs office releases the goods and sends a corresponding message. You should therefore check with your customs office to find out which case applies in each individual instance.
- Please note: Early customs declarations are only valid for 30 days. After this period, the “ATA” registration number will automatically be deleted by customs unless you have already sent confirmation of the early customs declaration.
