BAFA initially sends you a preliminary transaction number as soon as your application is received, followed later by the final transaction number. You cannot continue processing this ELAN-K2 transaction until you receive the final transaction number.
You also receive the application as a PDF file. It used to be necessary to print and sign the form, but with ELAN-K2, a signature is no longer required. So once you have sent off the application, you’re done until BAFA responds.
Proceed as follows:
- First, you automatically receive the preliminary transaction number from BAFA.
- The ELAN-K2 transactions overview then shows an entry in the Transaction no. column.
- Open the ELAN-K2 transaction.
- Under Message exchange with BAFA, you see a new entry alerting you that the preliminary transaction number and application form have been received.
- Open this entry.
- The entry includes the Attachments and Message header data sheets.
- On the Attachments sheet, click the Show document button to open and view the application form.
- The Message header data sheet displays information on the received message.
- Later, BAFA will send you the final transaction number.
- The processing status of the ELAN-K2 transaction switches to Waiting for applicant, and the final transaction number now appears in the ELAN-K2 transactions overview, Transaction no. column.
- Open the ELAN-K2 transaction.
- Under Message exchange with BAFA, you see a new entry alerting you that the final transaction number has been received.
- If you do not wish to report any further data but rather wait for BAFA’s response first, set the processing status of the ELAN-K2 transaction to Waiting for BAFA. This is how you keep track of your open ELAN-K2 transactions.
